Filipino/Asian Media

I received an e-mail from a certain Lonnie Hensley appreciating my work here at my site.  He’s got a blogspot too but this time, it doesn’t involve digiscrapping.  He is into collecting Filipino Music and sharing it all with us and this is his site: http://filipinoasianmedia.blogspot.com/

His album collection is so varied and the oldest album I had seen is 1982…

hajji_alejandro-collection and this is a 2009 released album…

va-opm_number_one If you are interested in Filipino music, then it’s worth your time to drop=by this site, and most of all, you can also download the album.

I welcome anything and everything that will be thrown my way… I can put it here in my site and link a post to your blog, as long as it is permissible in content.

The Joy of Working with Templates

memc9

thmc9

It’s so much fun to work with templates because you can play around with it.  You can move a layer where you want it to be and you can add or delete layers if it does not suit your needs at the moment.  I had found great sites that caters to templates…

I had made layouts out of the numerous templates that I had grabbed from these generous designers and you can view them at My PhotoBlog.

Experimenting on Background Layouts

I got inspired again to make background layouts for my blog when I saw Dallien’s Dusky Lily Kit.  It is in the shades of dark violet (violet being a favorite color of mine) and the elements are really superb.  Take a look at her kit….

and this is my corresponding header for the violet layout…

and this is the matching header for the brown layout….

These two background layouts are actually my second attempt on doing background layout.  I will be using them if and when I am “tired” of my present layouts!!!!

Here is my initial creation which I did out of two template kits of Amanda Thorderson Digital Scrapbook Designs, Butterflies are Free and Chugs No. 5.  MyPhotoBlog site is now sporting this layout…

As much as I want to offer these layouts as freebies, I still can’t because I don’t have any idea yet as to how those “file-download sharing” works.  But if somebody out there is interested, maybe I just can send it via e-mail…

P.S.  So sorry that I immediately offered the background layouts as freebies at my sites.  I was advised that I had to ask first the permission of the designer if I am allowed to do so.  Anyway, I had already conveyed my intentions to the designer concerned and will keep you all posted about it.

Scrapping My Blog Background

It's been 12 days since my first post (January 27 actually) and I guess it's about time that I learn how to "dress-up" my blog!!!!

I checked on Chingjp Designs (http://chingjp.blogspot.com/ ) last night... she was thanking a friend blogger and mentioned about her sidebar Digital Retouching.  I looked at it and "Easy Custom Blogs" caught my attention and so I headed for it.  This is the first time that I stumbled into a site that caters mostly on to how to "beautify" the look of your blog.  It is very informative especially for beginners like me and my first tutorial on Scrapping My Blog Background began... Mind you... it's no joke really,  it was mostly trial and error because I had to find a layout that will suit already my existing look and features of my blog.  I would suggest that at the start, you find time how to do this before all those blogging.  You can visit her site for more tutorials at http://easycustomblogs.blogspot.com/  ...

Next stop at that Digital Retouching sidebar..Allie Brown's Layouts (http://alliebrownslayouts.blogspot.com/ ) .. and this is were I got my "scrapbook look" for my PhotoBlog site.  She's also into tutorials and also a great site to follow.  What's good in here is that she has already provided the direct link, meaning you don't have to download the background layout and post it in an image hosting site.  The layout that I chose also has a matching header but sad to say, I wasn't able to do this.  After so many trials, still the layout header won't come out in my blog :-(

And this background layout, the Elegant Rose, I got it from http://deliciousfx.blogspot.com/ .  In here, you will download the image.  The first time I did it, I just had it as is but the size didn't fit with the screen.  So I resize it and followed the size mentioned at Easy Customs Blogs..and luckily that did it.

So far, I am quite happy with the look of my blogs...maybe its time now to look at those other tutorials available in these sites so as to really dress-up my blogs :-) .....

ABC Book

I've been following the ABC Book that Melanie of Sweet as Mel has been making for her friend... it's a poem she found in a faithsisters' forum and I love the layouts that she has done. It is now finished and it is really a work of art and that friend is lucky indeed to receive such a gift. I want to feature her work here in my blog for all of you to see and appreciate her project...but while I am awaiting her permission to do so, you can visit her site at http://sweetasmel.blogspot.com/ .

Photo Editing...

For a beginner like me, i've discovered some sites and/or softwares that can be used to enhance one's photo the easy way.

PhotoShine was introduced and shared to me by a friend designer Georgia of Digital Designs. It gives you an easy way to add your photo into different beautiful templates. For example, you can add your photo into a classical love style template, a pink girl style template, a baby cartoon template, or a magazine cover template etc by just one click in PhotoShine. It's main feature is that it is easy to use because you will just have to add your photo and you will have results instantly. There are nine themes to choose from, namely girl, baby, love, board, dream, magazine, calendar, frame and others or about 700 templates to choose from. The downside based on my experiece (I'm not sure about this one because I haven't explored totally this software) is that you can only use one photo per template and that the you can not adjust the position of the photo on some certain frames. There is only one major frame in a template that can be repositioned or adjusted. So you have to carefully select the right photo with the right template to get good results.

But by and large, it is a good starting point for beginners like me. You can visit their site at http://www.picget.net/. There are other photo editing softwares available there like Magic Photo Editor, DreamLight Photo Editor and Face Smoother.

I've made some trials using the PhotoShine Softwares....

The other site that you can also experiment with your photos is the Imikimi Site. It also works the same way as the PhotoShine. But in here, you can add different photos in one template and you can adjust or reposition all the photos that you would incorporate in the template. There are also various templates available there. All you have to do is to register.

To give texture to your end result photos, you can use the site http://www101.blibs.com/editor/ (My Theme/Free Online Editor). The effects I used in the above layouts are buttonize and add drop shadow. You can also try Picnik for these editing needs..http://www.picnik.com/app#/home/welcome

I hope these simple tips can help you start with your own photo editing and eventually move on to much much more intricate designs. I am a beginner myself and I am slowly learning the ropes as I go along with my passion and I get to improve my craft because there are so many designers out there who are willing to share their knowledge, talent and their creative works.
